The Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy have recently signed a partnership argeement to provide the first International Pediatric Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacology Symposium. The Symposium will serve as the PPAG Specialty Meeting. The Symposium will take place April 24-26, 2009.
Presented by PPAG in conjunction with the ACCP/ESCP 2009 International Congress on Clinical Pharmacy. An international committee of pediatric pharmacists and pharmacologists has developed the framework for the International Pediatric Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacology Symposium. This exciting event is the first time that international pediatric pharmacy and clinical pharmacology organizations involved in the use of medicines in children will come together to share research, practice, and ideas to improve the care of children.Take advantage of this opportunity to meet international colleagues, discuss relevant issues in the developed and developing world, and create a network of practitionerswith similar goals. Throughout the symposium, discussions will revolve around international outreach, translational research, and clinical practice.
Topics to be covered in plenary sessions, workshops, and roundtables include:
- American and European legislation for pediatric drugs
- Millennium Development Goals from WHO and the List of Essential Pediatric Medicines
- Pharmacogenomics
- Safety of drug use in children
- Education of pediatric pharmacists
- Informatics in pediatric pharmacy and clinical pharmacology
- Pediatric drug formulation
